MakeMeAFirefighter.org.

Take Control of Your Personal Finances with New Express Bill Pay

Five words or less(NewsUSA) – We all work hard for our money, which in turn is divided up to pay our bills. That’s how it works. But with the added stress of managing daily life, managing bill payment can often be overwhelming and sometimes get overlooked. It can be hard to keep track of what’s due and when; never mind those bills that have fallen through the cracks and are late.
Here are some tips to help, according to finance experts:
* Learn Self-Control — Learn the fine art of delay gratification, and you’ll soon find it easy to keep your finances in order. Although you can effortlessly purchase an item on credit the minute you want it, it’s better to wait until you’ve actually saved up the money. In this way, you may even be able to get a deal by paying cash at the outset.
* Take Control of Your Own Financial Future — Find a personal finance app. It is an essential component for managing modern life. Personal finance apps help remind you to pay bills, keep an eye on account balances, and stay within budgets — things we need to do daily and for which we often need reminders. For example, Express Canada recently launched a free, web-based application that will offer a more improved approach to users’ cash flow management and regular bill payment, which will invariably improve the credit rating with service providers. Payment for bills are made directly from XBP International to service providers by a click of a button. Users receive regular reminders for upcoming and overdue bills through email notifications, which improve regular bill paying habits. Users can also easily track and reconcile accounts with services providers.
* Know Where Your Money Goes — It is extremely important to make sure your expenses aren’t exceeding your income. The best way to do this is by budgeting. In addition, keeping your recurring monthly expenses as low as possible will also save you big bucks over time.
“Plan Bill Payment” from XBP International is a perfect solution, developed by Express Canada (Ca) Corp., a Canadian corporation with a specialty in developing financing and business solutions for individuals, corporate and government. XBP International provides users with a schedule of the cash amount needed for the next 30 days. This enables users to coordinate paycheck or available cash with bill payment schedules — a great financial planning tool.
* Start an Emergency Fund – Having money in savings to use for emergencies can keep you out of trouble financially and help you sleep better at night — especially when those large life events occur. Also, if you get into the habit of saving money and treating it as a non-negotiable monthly “expense,” pretty soon you’ll have more than just emergency money saved up.
Banking and managing money keep getting easier. All the financial capabilities are a far cry from the pre-Internet days, when tracking expenses involved saving receipts, opening paper bills, and writing down every time you gave someone a fistful of cash.

Optimism About Farm Economy Remains Robust, Says New Economic Indicator

Five words or less(NewsUSA) – One year ago, Purdue and CME Group launched the Ag Economy Barometer, the first economic indicator to help gauge the monthly outlook of the U.S. farm economy. Since its inception, the barometer has measured farmers’ sentiment through market-moving events — such as Brexit, the U.S. presidential election and key agricultural reports — and continues to be an important tool for taking the temperature of the nation’s agricultural sector.
Each month, the barometer measures the confidence of 400 food producers regarding the farm economy and key economic drivers, resulting in a barometer reading that represents sentiment. The barometer reading is published on the first Tuesday of each month, indicating whether sentiment has improved or declined month over month or above or below the baseline score of 100.
Since Purdue and CME Group started fielding this research, the barometer has seen a significant rise in producer optimism from 116 to 130 points, due to unexpected factors beyond commodity prices. Sentiment began rising steadily after the U.S. presidential election in November and reached an all-time peak of 153 points in January, when Donald Trump took office.
“Over the last year, we learned that producer expectations are a driving force of sentiment, not solely day-to-day changes in commodity prices or even overall profitability,” says Jim Mintert, director of Purdue’s Center for Commercial Agriculture and principal investigator for the barometer.
“While near-term economic conditions in agriculture barely changed around the election, producers’ attitudes improved with expectations of less regulation and tax reform down the line.”
“Agriculture is a key component of the global economy, so understanding the health of the farming community is critical to get the full picture,” says Fred Seamon, CME Group executive director of commodity research & product development.
“We’re pleased that the barometer is providing vital insight into an industry on which consumers so heavily rely, and will continue to do so.”
Results for the Ag Economy Barometer are tabulated and published on the first Tuesday of each month by Purdue University. To learn more about the barometer, survey methodology or to view the most recent results, visit www.purdue.edu/agbarometer

–Club Mile-Hi Jeep: camino Sidewinder, Colorado.
–Ohio River Four Wheelers: Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway, Kentucky.
–Club Grand Mesa Jeep: 21 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado.
–Club Piston’s Wild Motorsports: camino Hagen Creek, Yacolt Burn State Forest, Washington.

Study Refutes Link Between Strokes, Chiropractic Care

Five words or less(NewsUSA) – Is it time to finally put this one to rest?
Every once in a while, when some high-profile young man or woman dies unexpectedly from a stroke, the media races to find an explanation. Aha! She ran a marathon without being in shape! Aha! He visited a chiropractor several days before to relieve a pinched nerve in his neck!
The latter theory at least is refuted by research done this year by a team of neurosurgeons at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. They performed what they described as “a systematic review and meta-analysis of published data” to determine whether there’s a direct correlation between the manipulation performed by doctors of chiropractic — manual adjustments widely acknowledged to relieve muscle-related pain — and a condition called cervical artery dissection (CAD) in which a small tear opens in the artery walls of the neck.
That’s important since such a tear can result in a stroke should a blood clot form and later break free to block a blood vessel in the brain.
The team’s conclusion? “There is no convincing evidence to support a causal link between chiropractic manipulation and CAD.”
CAD is actually quite rare. It’s been estimated that it annually strikes only two to three people, per 100,000 of the population, and various epidemiologic studies through the years suggest that strokes can occur at an equal rate whether sufferers are under chiropractic or other medical care for the headaches and neck pain it often produces.
As for chiropractic care in general, it’s worth remembering that — after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urged doctors last March to avoid prescribing potentially addictive prescription painkillers in the face of mounting deaths — a slew of health experts joined the chorus of those who’d already been praising chiropractic as a safe and effective treatment for neck, mid back, and lower back pain.
“Not only is chiropractic care very safe, it actually poses fewer risks than medical or surgical treatment,” says Gerard Clum, DC, a spokesperson for the not-for-profit Foundation for Chiropractic Progress.

Four-Wheel Fans Care for Trails

Five words or less(NewsUSA) – A foursome of four-wheel drive clubs are the winners of the 2016 Outstanding Trails Program sponsored by BFGoodrich Tires, in partnership with 4 Wheel Parts, United Four Wheel Drive Associations, Blue Ribbon Coalition, and Off Road Business Association.
The clubs and their nominated trails are:
-Mile-Hi Jeep Club: Sidewinder Trail, Colorado
-Ohio River Four Wheelers: Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway, Kentucky
-Grand Mesa Jeep Club: 21 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado
-Piston’s Wild Motorsports Club: Hagen Creek Trail, Yacolt Burn State Forest, Washington
The Outstanding Trails program, now in its 11th year, was created to promote trail conservation and responsible off-road driving. The program invites off-road clubs from all over North America to nominate local trails that need maintenance or improvement. A panel of judges chooses the winning clubs and trails, which are selected based on unique features, terrain, and club support.
The four off-road clubs chosen each year receive grants of $4,000 each to use for local efforts to preserve and protect their hometown trails. In addition, representatives from BFGoodrich Tires will attend club events related to the winning trails in order to highlight each location’s unique features and educate four-wheel drive fans in responsible trail use.
“The saying goes, ‘where the rubber meets the road,’ and at BFGoodrich, not only do we take that to heart, but we also believe that where the rubber meets the trail is equally important, and that starts with the All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire,” says BFGoodrich’s Oscar Pereda. “In our first ten years of the Outstanding Trails program, we have helped to improve, repair, maintain, and protect nearly 50 trails in 17 states and two Canadian provinces.”
Each of the winning clubs has plans to improve and maintain their local trails. One in particular has taken conservation a step beyond the trail itself to include animals that live there. The Grand Mesa Jeep Club “has adopted the 21 Road Trail and other local trails and is committed to its protection and maintenance,” according to club president Jeff Bates. But the club has adopted not only the road, but also the Great Basin Spadefoot Toad (also known as the “21 Road Toad”), a threatened species in the area. “The club has committed to protecting the toad’s habitat in at least three areas along the trail with posts and cable,” Bates says.
